Northwest Territory Wins, Johnstone goes 3-for-4
|
Mike Johnstone helped his team muscle past the Gibtown Elephants, 7-3. In the game, the Northwest Territory first baseman was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 4 times and drove in 2. Alfredo Romo got the win, improving to 7-4. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 9 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 9 and walking 0. The 6th-place Beavers lifted their record to 49-46.
Northwest Territory used the timely hitting of Roland Rankin to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Beavers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Northwest Territory manager Tom Carlson.
