Baby Lakers Prevail, 3-1, Over Greenport
|
Alfredo Molina pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Greenport Harbor Whales, despite Molina's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Bompton Baby Lakers at Ballpark of Robbins. Lance Barber, the winner, improved to 4-2. He held the Harbor Whales to 1 earned run on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Denny Matthews locked down his 6th save.
Oakdale, Minnesota-born Maema Njongmeta came through in the clutch. In the top of the third, with the bases loaded and the Baby Lakers trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Bompton on top.
"I know we have our doubters," said Greenport manager Fernando Mendoza. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
Bompton is 11th in the Menard's R with a record of 30-51.
