Baby Lakers Come Up Short at Greenport
|
The Bompton Baby Lakers got a superb performance from pitcher Chun-mei Bao, but the Greenport Harbor Whales still won the game, 2-1. Bao was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball. The win was credited to Henry Burge in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Chun-mei Bao took the loss. Donnie Ash was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 8 save opportunities.
The Harbor Whales beat the Baby Lakers in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out double Germán López produced in the bottom of the sixth. Batting against Bompton pitcher Chun-mei Bao, López gave his team a 2-1 lead when he hit a run-scoring double.
"I really like what we did out there today," López said after the game.
With the win, Greenport has a record of 34-31. Bompton falls to 23-42.
