Uruguayans Sneak Past Baby Lakers, 3-2
|
The Uruguayans had to overcome a fine effort from Bompton pitcher Gabriel Alvarado to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Field of the Browns. Alvarado went 9 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Manuel Villanueva was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 5 save opportunities. Germantown is 9th in the Menard's R with a record of 25-36.
Germantown used the timely hitting of Harold Keightley to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Uruguayans on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Credit where credit is due," said Keightley, "this was a team win."
