Baby Lakers Continue Skid Thanks to Wells, Snowpeople
|
The Bompton Baby Lakers and Ellesmere Island Snowpeople were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at Field of the Browns.
Benefiting from Bill Wells's productive game, the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople downed the Bompton Baby Lakers, 7-4. Wells went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Snowpeople. Millard Whipp earned the save for Ellesmere Island, his 16th of the year.
Wells came through with some timely hitting for Ellesmere Island. With the score 2-0 in the top of the third and two down, Wells hit a full count fastball for a 3-run home run. His 5th home run of the season made it 5-0, Ellesmere Island.
"We'll savor this win," Wells told the Ellesmere Island Chronicle, "then get ready for the next game."
