Beavers Need Extras to Top Elephants
|
The Northwest Territory Beavers picked up a win at Wrigley Field, knocking off the Gibtown Elephants, 5-3. On the mound for Northwest Territory was left-hander Cecil Drabek, who played a pivotal role in the win. The 7th-place Beavers improved to 20-24.
Northwest Territory needed the clutch hitting of David Alcabú to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Beavers on top, 5-3. For the game, Alcabú had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"There's no quit in this team," said Beavers manager Tom Carlson.
