Snowpeople Score Late to Upend Deer, 1-0
|
Ellesmere Island turned a good effort from starter Tony Wood into a win over the Sheridan Deer at Sheridan Forest. The final score was 1-0. Ricardo Marrero picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Juan Núñez was tagged with the loss. Millard Whipp locked down his 8th save.
Ellesmere Island used the timely hitting of Cristóbal Arroyo to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Snowpeople on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Both teams played hard," said Ellesmere Island manager Billy Strauss.
Today's win puts Ellesmere Island at 14-24, while Sheridan falls to 21-17.
