McCarty 3-4 to Power Deer Offense

The Sheridan Deer beat the Canonniers de Quebec, 5-0, at Sheridan Forest. The Deer got a fine performance from right fielder Ryan McCarty, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Dejenie Afiba earned the win for Sheridan. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing no earned runs on no hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 2-2. Adam Keast closed the game out for Sheridan, earning his 1st save.
With Sheridan leading 2-0 in the bottom of the eighth, McCarty hit a knuckle curve from Alberto López for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Deer ahead, 5-0.
"If it's down the middle," said McCarty, "you might as well hit it."
With the victory, the Deer record now stands at 20-16.
