Fewings has 4 hit day, Warheads Move to 19-11
|
The Amarillo Warheads relied on the hitting of left fielder Caspar Fewings to stop the Twinsburg Tigers, 6-4. For the game, Fewings was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. The win was Ryan Robertson's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Henry Terry took the loss for Twinsburg. Benny Berry earned the save for Amarillo, his 9th of the year.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Warheads sent teenager Joe Holmes to the plate against Tigers hurler Elliot Roebuck. With runners on 1st and 3rd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 0-1 fastball to score 1.
"Enjoyed this one," Fewings told the Amarillo Bulletin. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Amarillo is now 19-11, Twinsburg 23-7.
