Shockers Squelch Rhinos Offense in Shutout Win
|
The exploits of center fielder Bob Byrd, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2038 draft, helped the Surprise Shockers defeat the Redwood Rhinos, 4-0. Byrd was 3-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Surprise reliever Phil Waasdorp picked up the win, upping his record to 7-1. Korbin Dallas shouldered the loss. With the win, the Shockers improved to 52-42.
Surprise took a 1-0 lead on Byrd's 10th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which he hit off Korbin Dallas in the top of the sixth, propelled Surprise to the win.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Byrd told the Surprise News.
