Victory Over Harbor Whales Takes Amarillo to 13-6
|
Greenport pitcher Javier Soto gave the Warheads all they could handle, but in the end, Amarillo left Ballpark of Robbins with a 4-3 win. Soto allowed 4 earned runs on 7 hits over 7.1 innings. Nick Dalton picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-2. He struck out 2 in 5 innings. Lester Broughton nailed down his 2nd save.
Amarillo used the clutch hitting of Norihisa Kino to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to give the Warheads the lead, 3-1. For the game, Kino had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Amarillo manager Javier Trujillo.
Amarillo, now 13-6, has gotten their season off to a good start.
