Amarillo beat Gibtown on the strength of starter Roberto Punyed's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 1-0 win. Punyed, the winner, moves to 4-0. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks. Benny Berry earned the save, his 6th.
Joe Holmes, the Amarillo third baseman, contributed a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 1-0, Warheads. For the game, Holmes was 1-3 with a home run.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Holmes said.
At 12-6, the Warheads have played well so far.
