Wrigley Field was the site of a tense game between the Gibtown Elephants and Sheridan Deer.
The Sheridan Deer did just enough to sneak past the Gibtown Elephants, 3-2, at Wrigley Field. Sheridan pitcher Dejenie Afiba earned player of the game honors. The Elephants fall to 5-7 and continue their lackluster start to the 2038 season.
Sheridan needed the clutch hitting of Jack Schrijver to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Deer on top, 3-2. For the game, Schrijver had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Schrijver.
