The Amarillo Submarinos picked up a win at Terriers Ballpark, knocking off the Northwest Territory Beavers, 3-2. Starting pitcher Dave Reynolds, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Reynolds got the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. Reynolds allowed no earned runs. Donovan Poe earned the save for Amarillo, his 3rd of the year.
The Submarinos used some clutch hitting to beat the Beavers, a good example being the at-bat of Jesse Garrett in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, Garrett gave his team the lead, 3-1, when he hit a 2-run home run.
"I just trusted my stuff," said Reynolds.
The Beavers, now 3-9, continue their poor start.
