Baby Lakers Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Bompton starter Danny Kas pitched effectively against the Germantown Uruguayans at Ballpark of Albuquerque. The right-hander led his team to a 5-2 win. Kas, now 1-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 10, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. The save was credited to Chun-mei Bao, his 2nd.
Bompton used the timely hitting of Jon Kelly to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Baby Lakers ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"I got in a good groove," said Kas. "I was getting some swings and misses."
The Baby Lakers have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 3rd win in 9 games.
