Hounds Curb Biscuits, 7-2
|
The Hicksville Hounds stymied the Montgomery Biscuits, 7-2, at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. Michael Cherry, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He hit 2 home runs for Hicksville. Emilio Linger got credit for the win, improving to 2-9. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in 6.2 innings. The Hounds saw their win-loss record go to 44-39. At the same time, the Biscuits fell to 43-40.
Hicksville used the timely hitting of Aloysius Szymanski to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Hounds on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Cherry said.
