Multi-HR Day for Avery as Divided Overpower Northern Lions BC, 6-4
|
The D.C. Divided topped the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, 6-4, in United States Silver League action at Washington Stadium. The player of the game was D.C. first baseman Alex Avery. Roberto Silva sewed up the save, his 8th. The 7th-place Divided improved to 16-21.
Avery had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-1 sinker from Santiago Pérez, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Divided a 6-3 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Avery.
In comments to the D.C. Herald, Avery admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
