Hotspur Academy Win in Glorious Fashion
|
The Phoenix Hotspur Academy eked out a 5-4 win versus the Montgomery Biscuits at Ballpark of Fresno. Nobody did more than pitcher Edward Martin, who captured player of the game honors. Phoenix reliever Rafael Ramos picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-0. Sun Kan was collared with the loss. The losing streak for Montgomery has now reached 4 games.
Late in the game, first baseman Lúcio Gómez had a big at-bat for Phoenix. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single off Sun Kan. The play gave the Hotspur Academy a 5-4 lead.
"It was a test of wills," said John Aston, the Phoenix skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
