Harbor Whales Hope Opening Day Win Bodes Well for Season
The Greenport Harbor Whales got their 2038 season off and running with a win over the Gibtown Elephants at Ballpark of Robbins. The final score was 6-2. Greenport pitcher Félix Ortíz was named player of the game. Ortíz went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-0. Shoichi Iwata earned the save for Greenport, his 1st of the year.

Greenport took a 6-2 lead on Jerry Simmons's 1st double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Simmons hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Gibtown pitcher Graeme Clark shaking his head.
