Tight Tilt Goes to Hounds, 4-3
|
Hicksville withstood an impressive performance by Ladue center fielder Allan Callejo to defeat the Rams, 4-3, at Ballpark of Wellsville. Callejo went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. The winner was David Schrattenthaler, who threw 114 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits. Jérôme Vignon was credited with the save for Hicksville, his 1st of the season.
Hicksville used the timely hitting of Hiroshige Yamada to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put the Hounds on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Yamada told the Hicksville News.
Hicksville, at 35-29, sits in second place in the Silver R.
