Phoenix got a terrific performance from pitcher Luis Ramos, but it wasn't enough to beat the Montgomery Biscuits. Montgomery won the Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium contest, 5-2. Ramos was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball. Montgomery reliever Hisanobu Yamashita was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Luis Ramos took the loss for Phoenix. The save was credited to Sun Kan, his 3rd.
Montgomery grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and the bases empty, Bob Arrington delivered a solo home run, to make it 3-2 in favor of the Biscuits.
Arrington called the triumph "a good team win."
With the win, the Biscuits have a record of 31-25.
