Multi-HR Day for Yaeger as Fire Overpower Shockers, 9-5
|
The Franklin Fire powered past the Surprise Shockers, 9-5, at Lawmen Ballpark. Charlie Yaeger went 2-2 with 2 home runs and 3 walks. He scored 4 times and drove in 2, to lead the charge. Freddy Howe earned the win to go to 2-3. He allowed 5 earned runs on 9 hits, with 5 walks and 6 strikeouts. Franklin now sits in 9th place in the Silver R at 21-29.
Nick McGhee, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the sixth. That's when he connected on a fastball from Horatio Hornblower for a 3-run home run. His 6th home run of the season put Franklin in front, 5-2.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," McGhee said.
