The Franklin Fire got a superb performance from pitcher Kevin Moran. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Hicksville. The Hounds won the game, 4-2. In spite of the loss, Moran was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Hicksville is in 5th place in the Silver R with a record of 26-22.
Hicksville used the timely hitting of Luther H. Greene to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hounds on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Greene told the Hicksville News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
