Shockers Win Again, Extend Streak to 6
|
The Shockers had to overcome a fine effort from Phoenix pitcher Edward Martin to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Ballpark of Fresno. Martin went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Tim Eastham picked up the save, his 3rd. Surprise has now reeled off 6 straight wins.
Surprise used the timely hitting of Ricardo Cantú to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Shockers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Surprise manager Sherwood Baker.
