Fire Trip Rhinos in Extras
|
The Fire had to overcome a good performance from Redwood pitcher Jorge Souza to claim a 4-2 win at The Zoo. Souza went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Reliever Myung-chor Chong picked up the win. His record improves to 3-0. Paul Wickers took the loss. The Rhinos, at 17-22, have lost 5 in a row.
The outcome might have been different for Franklin, had it not been for Charlie Yaeger, the 21-year old shortstop . Yaeger stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 14th inning to put Franklin up, 4-2. For the game, he was 2 for 6, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Yaeger, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
