|
Phoenix right-hander Jared Martínez pitched his team to victory over the Franklin Fire at Lawmen Ballpark. The final score was 3-2. Martínez got the win, improving to 6-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. Martínez allowed 2 earned runs. Heath Brown finished the game for Phoenix and earned his 6th save.
Phoenix used the timely hitting of Allen Kelley to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hotspur Academy on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Kelley said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Phoenix now has a 3-game win streak.
