Shockers Score Late, Upend Biscuits, 3-2

Surprise Shockers starter Wayland Whitlock turned in a top-notch performance against the Montgomery Biscuits at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. The result was a win for the Shockers, 3-2. In 7 innings, Whitlock surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The 9th-place Shockers improved to 11-20.
Surprise used the clutch hitting of Lewis N. Clark to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Shockers the lead, 3-1. For the game, Clark had 2 singles and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Surprise manager Sherwood Baker said.
