Shockers Come Back Late to Clip Rams
Fans who came to Ballpark of Wellsville watched the Surprise Shockers and the Ladue Rams fight to the finish.

The Surprise Shockers knocked off the Ladue Rams, 7-6, at Ballpark of Wellsville. Hamid Rutu, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Surprise won. The first baseman was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored 3 times. The win was credited to Phil Waasdorp in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Dylan Mugglestone took the loss.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Lewis N. Clark came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Ladue pitcher Dylan Mugglestone, he hit a 1-2 sinker for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Surprise on top, 7-5.

"I felt good up there," said Rutu. "I saw the ball well."

Even with the win, the Shockers have a dismal 6-14 record.
