Hotspur Academy Get One-Run Win at Surprise
|
Phoenix beat Surprise at ďAbbots Ballpark, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Bernard Hewer, who earned player of the game honors. Phoenix has a mark of 10-7 after the win.
Phoenix used the timely hitting of Carl Bailey to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Hotspur Academy on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Bailey told the Phoenix Observer.
