Surprise got a terrific game from left fielder Dirk Horwedel. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Hicksville, 6-4. Horwedel was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Ostasz Pochuev was credited with the save for Hicksville, his 2nd of the season. Surprise, at 3-12, has had a dismal start to the season.

With runs few and far between, the Hounds had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Hicksville came in the bottom of the fifth inning, when center fielder Trent Armstrong delivered a 2-run single. The single was hit off Claude Khatoon and made the score 5-2, Hounds. Armstrong was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Armstrong said.
