Hicksville rode a decent outing from starter José Reyes to victory over the Surprise Shockers at Hound Pound. The final score was 4-3. Hicksville reliever Glenn van der Kuijl picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Wayland Whitlock was saddled with the loss. Emilio Linger picked up the save, his 3rd.

The Hounds got a big at-bat from first baseman Aloysius Szymanski. For the game, Szymanski was 1-3 with a walk. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 14th hit of the season gave Hicksville a 1-0 lead.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Szymanski said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."

The Shockers, at 3-10, have stumbled out of the gate.
