Montgomery beat Surprise in a rain-soaked ballgame.

The Montgomery Biscuits got a good effort from starter Joe Yoder in defeating the Surprise Shockers at ïAbbots Ballpark. The final score was 6-2. Yoder, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run.

In the top of the first, Lorenzo Lobo pounced on a slider from Wayland Whitlock and hit a run-scoring double. It gave Montgomery a quick 1-0 lead.

"Joe is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Montgomery manager Félix Cruz.

Montgomery is now 6-5.
