Cougars Jolt Flanderses with Late Rally

The Valley View Cougars picked up a win at Field of the Toros, knocking off the Hudsonville Flanderses, 3-1. Starting pitcher Mark Kirk played a key role in the triumph. Valley View reliever Khadija Oumar was credited with the win, to go to 2-2. Yeijiro Inoue took the loss for Hudsonville. Karl MacElligot picked up the save for Valley View, his 5th of the year.
Valley View used the timely hitting of H. D. Armentrout to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cougars on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Armentrout told the Valley View Citizen. "You win just by scoring more runs."
The Cougars go to 55-38, putting them third in the Premier R.
