Ducks Drop Beavers with Late Score
|
Long Island shortstop Ricardo Urquijo made his presence felt in the 7-3 Ducks triumph over the Ballard Beavers. Urquijo went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Long Island reliever Jim Sousa, now 3-1. The loser was Bob Payne. The Ducks saw their win-loss record go to 43-43. At the same time, the Beavers fell to 50-36.
Benoît Baudry's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Bob Payne for a run-scoring single. It put Long Island in front, 4-3.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Baudry told the Long Island Observer.
