Valley View Makes It 7 Straight with 3-2 Win
|
The Valley View Cougars faced a tough opponent in Crowley pitcher Rubén Santana, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Hillandale Grounds by a final score of 3-2. Santana went 5 innings and allowed no earned runs. The winner was Esteban Sánchez in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Mauro Sandín took the loss. The save went to Allen Brown, his 13th this season.
Had Tyler Namaes not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Namaes hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Cougars.
In comments to the Valley View Citizen, Namaes admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
Valley View has now won 7 straight.
