van Arem Helps Las Vegas Outscore D.C.
|
The Las Vegas-D.C. matchup at The Strip turned into a slugfest.
The Las Vegas Flamingos turned back the D.C. Divided, 15-14, at The Strip. Sake van Arem was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 4 for 5 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Vaugh Chesser earned the save, his 6th, for the Flamingos.
Had Ruud van Ineveld not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, van Ineveld hit a 2-run single. That made the score 15-14, in favor of the Flamingos.
"They're fun to watch and the hitters get to pad their stats but nobody's really happy about a game like that," Las Vegas manager JJ Hoban. "I promise you I'm not happy."
Las Vegas is now 14-11.
