Centennial Roll to 8-1 Win Over Ducks
|
The exploits of designated hitter Iván Piñón, who is tied for 7th in the PR in home runs with 5, helped the Fort Knox Centennial defeat the Long Island Ducks, 8-1. Piñón went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Pedro Montáñez earned the win to go to 3-3. He allowed no earned runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Getting the save was Kyung-soo Yun, his 4th.
The Centennial grabbed the lead in the bottom of the eighth. With two out, Xue-qin Chen hit a grand slam home run off Juan Carmona, putting Fort Knox in front, 8-1. For Chen, it was his 2nd home run of the season.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Chen said after the game.
The Ducks, at 23-34, have lost 4 in a row.
