The Ogallala Octopi got a magnificent performance from pitcher Hugo Piñón, who stifled the Ballard offense en route to a 2-1 Octopi win at Field of the Sunchasers. Piñón, now 5-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. Will Williams sewed up the save, his 2nd.
Ogallala used the timely hitting of Inigo Montoya to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Octopi on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Piñón.
At 26-27, the Octopi find themselves in 6th place in the Premier R.
