Cougars Come Back Late to Top Ducks
|
There was no shortage of dramatics at Hillandale Grounds today.
The Cougars faced a stiff challenge from Long Island pitcher Ian Carr, but persevered to claim a win at Hillandale Grounds. The final score was 3-2. Carr went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs. Esteban Sánchez got credit for the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.2 innings.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Valley View trailing 2-1, Tyler Namaes hit a knuckle curve from Finley Brinley to right for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Cougars had a walk-off win.
Namaes told a Valley View Citizen reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
Valley View has now won 3 straight, while the Ducks have lost 3 in a row.
