Cajuns Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Ducks
|
The Crowley Cajuns took Long Island pitcher Neil Mitchell's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ducks Park. The final score had Crowley getting past the Ducks, 4-3. Mitchell went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, striking out 8. Crowley reliever Willard Kanjuchi was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Finley Brinley took the loss. Getting the save was Derek Craggs, his 4th.
Crowley used the timely hitting of Oliver Buss to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cajuns on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We take it day by day here," said Buss, "and today was a good one for us."
Crowley is 11-30 and Long Island, with the loss, 20-21.
