Cougars Need Extra Frames to Get Past Octopi
|
The Cougars had to overcome a good performance from Ogallala pitcher Hugo Piñón to claim a 4-2 win at Nebraska Aquarium. Piñón went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Esteban Sánchez was credited with the save for Valley View, his 1st of the season. With the win, Valley View goes to 19-19, while the Octopi fall to 17-21.
Valley View used the bat of Steve Roberson to capture the win. The pinch hitter jacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cougars ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a dandy.
"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Roberson.
