The Ogallala Octopi downed the Long Island Ducks, 4-2, at Nebraska Aquarium. The Octopi were led by Li Filby, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Ogallala is 13-17 and Long Island, with the loss, 14-16.
Had Filby not come through in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Filby hit a 2-run home run. The Octopi never looked back after taking the 4-2 lead.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Filby told the Ogallala News. "You win just by scoring more runs."
