Avino Goes Wild, But Coeur Win
|
Hollywood first baseman Baldomero Avino pounded St. Louis Coeur pitchers at The BFIB, but it was not enough to keep the Shredders from falling, 9-5. Avino was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The winner was St. Louis reliever James Callendar, now 2-1. The loser was Seung Pak. The save went to Denie Ulderink, his 3rd this season.
Qing-nian Zexian, who is tied for 10th in the SL with a .974 OPS, came through for St. Louis with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the seventh. The designated hitter went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 4 RBI.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Zexian said after the game.
St. Louis goes to 13-7 with the win.
