Foster Leads Octopi to Win
|
The rain came, as predicted, but the Ogallala Octopi and Crowley Cajuns were able to complete their ballgame.
The Ogallala Octopi downed the Crowley Cajuns, 7-1, at Nebraska Aquarium. The Octopi were led by Royce Foster, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Chris Rice earned the win for Ogallala. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing no earned runs on 4 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0.
The Octopi grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth. With one out, Jim Santos hit a grand slam home run off Shawn Umble, putting Ogallala in front, 6-0. For Santos, it was his 1st home run of the season.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Foster. "And not try to do too much."
Ogallala is now 4-5.
