Divided Continue Skid Thanks to Higgins, Dirty Reds
|
The San Mateo Dirty Reds topped the D.C. Divided by the score of 10-6, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Denis Higgins. Higgins went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 for the Dirty Reds. CB Huntington was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. With the win, San Mateo boosts its record to 9-11.
With San Mateo leading 6-5 in the bottom of the fourth, Higgins came up to bat against D.C. pitcher Aiden Dubhghall. Higgins hit a fastball to right-center for a 2-run single. His 7th hit of the season put the Dirty Reds on top, 8-5.
"We played hard and won," said Higgins. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
