Dirty Reds Deal Hotspur Painful Loss
|
San Mateo beat Phoenix at Lang Park, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher CB Huntington, who earned player of the game honors. San Mateo reliever Urs Ehles picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Rust Cohle absorbed the loss. The Hotspur fall to 6-12 and continue their lackluster start to the 2038 season.
The Dirty Reds were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when pinch hitter Kameron Guangorena turned a 1-2 forkball from Rust Cohle into a bases-clearing double. The walk-off double electrified the Lang Park denizens and sent the Dirty Reds home with a thrilling 6-5 win.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said San Mateo manager Dean Ashley.
