Blaze designated hitter Doug Tipton put his stamp on his team's 4-1 win over the Rocky Mountain Vibes. Tipton went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for South Beach in the contest. South Beach reliever Brian Duncan was the winner. His record is now 4-3. Rodrigo Alarcon took the loss. The 9th-place Blaze now have a 4-game winning streak.
South Beach used the timely hitting of Masafumi Kawaguchi to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blaze ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Kawaguchi.
