Nardone Helps Airmen Run Win Streak to 6
The Alameda Airmen defeated the Galesburg Guzzlers, 12-7, at Alameda Field. Alameda center fielder Nicodemo Nardone was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Alameda has now reeled off 6 straight wins.

The Airmen beat the Guzzlers in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Ed Whiteside produced in the bottom of the sixth. Batting against Galesburg pitcher Bob Close, Whiteside gave his team a 9-6 lead when he hit a 3-run home run.

"We played hard and won," said Nardone. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
