The San Mateo Dirty Reds beat the St. Louis Coeur, 9-2, at The BFIB. San Mateo right fielder Daniel McCoy earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Juan Moreno, credited with the win, is now 1-1. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 6.1 innings. Urs Ehles locked down his 2nd save.

San Mateo used the bat of Palaie Gaoteote to capture the win. The first baseman jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Dirty Reds ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Gaoteote told the San Mateo Herald.

San Mateo, now 6-9, is off to a slow start.
