Chicago starter William Burkett put a stranglehold on the Alameda offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Tula to a 2-1 win. Burkett went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-2. Garrett Austin nailed down his 3rd save.

Chicago relied on the bat of Kevin Hancock to get the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Tula ahead, 2-1. For the game, Hancock had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"We put together a nice win," Hancock said.

The Tula now own a record of 20-17.
